INFO + FAQ

What is the Special Session?
The goal of the Special Session is to increase confidence and proficiency in parliamentary procedure and debate. Students will refine their arguments and debate the bills they wrote during Regionals in a fun and competitive format. Debate during the Special Session will be run as close as possible to floor proceedings during the Annual Session, helping students prepare for the real legislative experience.

What will we do?
Students will debate and vote on bills that were drafted during Regionals. Delegates will practice parliamentary procedure, present arguments, ask questions, and participate in structured debate just like they would during the Annual Session. This allows students to test their ideas, receive feedback, and improve both their bills and debate skills.

What about bill submissions?
Any bill that is submitted to the Special Session will be granted the Bill Extension Date (April 3rd), regardless of whether the bill passes or fails at the Special Session. This gives students time to receive feedback and tweak both their legislation and arguments before the Annual Session.

Do I need to have attended Regionals?
No! Students who did not attend Regionals are still strongly encouraged to attend. The Special Session is a great opportunity to practice debate, learn parliamentary procedure, and prepare for the Annual Session.
