Speaker of the Assembly (2008-2009)

Presides over the Assembly in a unicameral body and over the House of Delegates in a bicameral body; and appoints a Speaker Pro Tempore who shall serve in their absence. The Speaker is also responsible for appointing the chairperson, vice chairperson and members of all committees of the General Assembly, and sits as an ex-officio member, without vote on all committees of the General Assembly. The Speaker also decides on all points of order of the assembly or House of Delegates while presiding.
