10 		   A RESOLUTION CONCERNING

20 		REPEALING FEDERAL GASOLINE TAXES



30	WHEREAS:		The price for gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline is nearing $2.00 per gallon in

40 			some parts of the United States; and,



50	WHEREAS:		Many low-income workers are forced to the spend many more dollars on the 

60 			fuel to commute to and from work because of high prices; and,



70	WHEREAS:		The Federal Government is enjoying record budget surplus; and,



80	WHEREAS:		Elimination of Federal gasoline taxes would help low-income families reduce

90 			fuel costs and focus their resources on their children's growth and development.



100	THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student Legislature urges the repeal of all

110 			Federal gasoline taxes; and,



120	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student Legislature urges a ban on any new

130 			taxes that could hurt America's working parents who are struggling to provide

140 			for themselves or their children.
