10 	 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING 

20   	      STATE HOLIDAYS





30	WHEREAS:   	Every four years an extra day is added to the calendar; and,



40	WHEREAS:   	This day is added to the end of February; and,



50	WHEREAS:   	February has 29 days during a leap year; and,



60	WHEREAS:   	Texas has 16 official state holidays; and,



70	WHEREAS:   	Kentucky has 13 official state holidays; and,



80	WHEREAS:   	Massachusetts has 12 official state holidays; and,	



90	WHEREAS:   	Maryland has only 10 official state holidays: and,

 

100	WHEREAS:   	Many Marylanders would appreciate an additional holiday.



110	THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED:   That the Maryland Student Legislature urges the declaration

120			of February 29 as an official state holiday.
