20 WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT AFTER

30 PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN

40	WHEREAS: Washington National Airport is an important means

50 of transportation for many people in the D.C. area,

60 providing air travel for over 15 million citizens

70 during 1999 alone; and,

80	WHEREAS: Government entities such as buildings and airports

90 are traditionally named after those people who have

100 proven themselves worthy of the honor; and,

110	WHEREAS: President Reagan's actions taken in August of

120 1981, firing 13,000 striking air traffic

130 controllers, makes putting his name on Washington

140 National Airport an insult to those 13,000 air traffic

150 controllers as well as the organized labor

160 community.

170	THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student

180 Legislature formally condemns the 105th Congress and

210 Airport; and,

220	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student

230 Legislature urges Congress and the President to rename
