10     	A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE PUBLIC FUNDING OF THE

20 		   BROOKLYN MUSEUM OF ART

	

30	WHEREAS:	New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani threatens to cut 7.2

40			million dollars of the museumâs funding if it does not cancel the

50			exhibit "Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi 

60			Collection", and,



70 	WHEREAS:	The mayor is offended and disgusted by the art works: and,



80 	WHEREAS: 	Giuliani proposes that the exhibit is given an "R" rating: no one 

90 			under the age of 17 admitted without a parent; and,



100	WHEREAS: 	The elimination of funding for the museum due to its choice in 

110 			exhibits is in violation of the first amendment.



120 	THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED:  That the Maryland Student Legislature

130 			supports the continuation of funding to the Brooklyn Museum of 

140 			Art without the cancellation of the "Sensation" exhibit.
