10 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE PUBLIC FUNDING OF THE 20 BROOKLYN MUSEUM OF ART 30 WHEREAS: New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani threatens to cut 7.2 40 million dollars of the museumâs funding if it does not cancel the 50 exhibit "Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi 60 Collection", and, 70 WHEREAS: The mayor is offended and disgusted by the art works: and, 80 WHEREAS: Giuliani proposes that the exhibit is given an "R" rating: no one 90 under the age of 17 admitted without a parent; and, 100 WHEREAS: The elimination of funding for the museum due to its choice in 110 exhibits is in violation of the first amendment. 120 THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature 130 supports the continuation of funding to the Brooklyn Museum of 140 Art without the cancellation of the "Sensation" exhibit. 150 MANDATES: President Bill Clinton 160 Vice-President Al Gore 170 Speaker of the House, Denny Hastert 180 House Majority Leader, Richard Armey 190 House Minority Leader, Richard Gephardt 200 Senate Majority Leader, Trent Lott 210 Senate Minority Leader, Thomas Daschle 220 New York City Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani 230 New York City Council President, Peter Vallone Sponsor: Cheryl McGee 4701 North Charles Street College of Notre Dame of Maryland Baltimore, MD 21210-2476
