10 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING 20 THE REPEAL OF THE DEATH PENALTY IN MARYLAND 30 WHEREAS: The State of Maryland currently has the Death Penalty as the highest 40 punishment; and, 50 WHEREAS: The State of Maryland does rarely enforce the Death Penalty; and, 60 WHEREAS: The Death Penalty is too strong of a punishment for our society; and, 70 WHEREAS: There is no reasonable guarantee beyond a reasonable doubt that these criminals 80 committed these crimes; and, 90 WHEREAS: There are better methods of punishing criminals than the Death Penalty. 100 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Maryland Student Legislature supports the idea 110 that the Death Penalty should be repealed as a form of punishment in 120 Maryland. 130 MANDATES: Governor Parris N.
