10 A RESOLUTION TO LEGALIZE HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGES

20	WHEREAS:	Currently homosexual marriages are not legal in all states; and,

30	WHEREAS:	This is blatant discrimination toward homosexuals; and,

40	WHEREAS:	Homosexuals are being deprived of the benefits

50 that go along with being married; and,

60 WHEREAS:	Taxes are lower for married couples, as opposed to those

70 who are not married, even though they have lived together for

80 many years; and,

90	WHEREAS:	Homosexuals do not enjoy the same health and insurance benefits

100 as married couples; and,

110	WHEREAS:	Homosexuals who choose to get married can do so in a state in

120 which it is legal to do so, and other states must recognize their

130 marriage anyway, so it is a ridiculous waste to keep homosexual

140 marriages legal in some states and illegal in others, and

150 discriminating places a burden on homosexuals.

160	THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student Legislature urges

170 the Federal government to legalize homosexual marriages in all 180 states by the year 2001; and,

190	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:	That the Maryland Student Legislature urges

200 the Federal government to withhold funding; the amount to be

210 decided by a committee appointed to do so, from those states

220 which do not comply.

230	MANDATES:	United States President William Jefferson Clinton

240 United States Vice President Al Gore
