10 A RESOLUTION TO LEGALIZE HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGES 20 WHEREAS: Currently homosexual marriages are not legal in all states; and, 30 WHEREAS: This is blatant discrimination toward homosexuals; and, 40 WHEREAS: Homosexuals are being deprived of the benefits 50 that go along with being married; and, 60 WHEREAS: Taxes are lower for married couples, as opposed to those 70 who are not married, even though they have lived together for 80 many years; and, 90 WHEREAS: Homosexuals do not enjoy the same health and insurance benefits 100 as married couples; and, 110 WHEREAS: Homosexuals who choose to get married can do so in a state in 120 which it is legal to do so, and other states must recognize their 130 marriage anyway, so it is a ridiculous waste to keep homosexual 140 marriages legal in some states and illegal in others, and 150 discriminating places a burden on homosexuals. 160 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature urges 170 the Federal government to legalize homosexual marriages in all 180 states by the year 2001; and, 190 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature urges 200 the Federal government to withhold funding; the amount to be 210 decided by a committee appointed to do so, from those states 220 which do not comply. 230 MANDATES: United States President William Jefferson Clinton 240 United States Vice President Al Gore Stacey Schwaber University of Maryland-College Park Denton Hall College Park, MD 20742
