10	A Resolution Concerning the Governor Compiling a Formal Request for Funding       
20          from the Maryland General Assembly for The Maryland Student Legislature

30	WHEREAS:	The Maryland Student Legislature functions as a 'hands-on' tool for 
40			educating college students statewide; and,

50	WHEREAS:	The Maryland Student Legislature is open to all undergraduate students 
60			in the state of Maryland; and,

70 	WHEREAS:	Internal fundraising mechanisms for the Maryland Student Legislature
80			have been ineffective; and,

90	WHEREAS: 	The Maryland Student Legislature is a non-profit organization; and,

100	WHEREAS: 	The Maryland Student Legislature membership is difficult to maintain due
110			due to the costs of lodging, registration and other activities related to 
120			statewide activities; and,

130 	WHEREAS: 	The Maryland Student Legislature is a valuable experience for all 
140			undergraduate students.

150	THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: 	That the Maryland Student Legislature strongly 
160			urges the Governor of the Maryland Student Legislature to request 
170 			funding equivalent to the need of the membership for hotels, registration 
180 			for Interim Assembly and Annual Session; and,
   		
190	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:	That this should take effect August 1, 1999; and,

200    	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:  That the Political Liaison be placed in charge of any and 
210			all efforts, in whatever form he/she sees fit, with regards to a
220			attaining the monies.
