10			  A RESOLUTION CONCERNING
20		   THE RECOGNITION OF DUCKPIN BOWLING
30			AS MARYLANDâS STATE SPORT

40	WHEREAS:	Duckpin bowling is a competitive sport which exercises both the
50      		mind and the body; and,

60	WHEREAS:	Thousands of Marylanders enjoy this sport every year; and,

70	WHEREAS:	Duckpin bowling has historical significance to Maryland, as it was 
80			invented in Baltimore in 1900; and,

90	WHEREAS:	The majority of duckpin bowlers and duckpin lanes are concentrated 
100			in the state of Maryland; and,

110	WHEREAS:	Duckpin bowling is more unique to Maryland than the present state 
120			sport, jousting; and,

130	WHEREAS:	Duckpin bowling is more accessible and more affordable to the 
140 			average Marylander than is jousting.

150	THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature urges the
160			Maryland General Assembly to recognize duckpin bowling as 
170          		Marylandâs official state sport.
