10 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE MARRIAGE TAX 20 ELIMINATION ACT OF 1999 30 WHEREAS: The Marriage Penalty Tax created by the Internal Revenue Code of 40 1986 penalizes married couples compared to those who are single 50 in the same income bracket; and, 60 WHEREAS: The Marriage Tax Elimination would save $1,400 for families that 70 make under $51,000; and, 80 WHEREAS: Families deserve to have this money rather than the federal 90 government. 100 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:That the Maryland Student Legislature urges 110 the Unites States Congress to pass the Marriage Tax Elimination 120 Act of 1999. 130 MANDATES: President Bill Clinton 140 Senator Pete Domenici 150 Hon.
