10 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING 20 THE CHANGING OF THE DRIVING TEST IN MARYLAND 30 WHEREAS: Thousands of accidents occur in Maryland each year; and, 40 WHEREAS: Many of those accidents occur because of driver negligence due to inexperience 50 behind the wheel; and, 60 WHEREAS: Anyone in Maryland can take the driving test required to obtain a Maryland 70 State Driver's Liscence; and, 80 WHEREAS: The Maryland State Drivers's Test does not accurately represent the 90 requirements necessary for real driving situations; and, 100 WHEREAS: A "real life" driving test is a more accurate representation of the necessary 110 applications of driving; and, 120 WHEREAS: Similar driving tests have been instituted in other states with considerable 130 success. 140 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature strongly supports a 150 driving driving test administered by a technician requiring the traditional 160 testing requirements to be performed on existing highways and roads in 170 Maryland; and, 180 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student legislature strongly urges the 190 Maryland General Assembly and Governor Parris Glendening to pass 200 legislation requiring Maryland citizens who wish to obtain any class liscence to 210 be subject to such legislation. 220 MANDATES: Governor Parris Glendening 230 The Honorable Delegate Casper Taylor 240 The Honorable Senator Thomas 'Mike' Miller 250 Maryland Secretary of Transportation David Winstead Sponsor: Andrew A.
