10 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING 20 THE FEDERAL BUDGET 30 WHEREAS: Social Security is becoming, day by day, an important issue facing the next 40 generation of American citizens; and, 50 WHEREAS: Congress has taken it upon themselves to remove Social Security from the 60 Federal Budget; and, 70 WHEREAS: This past decision has deceived the American public into believing there is not 80 a budget deficit; and, 90 WHEREAS: The truth is, Congress has been removing funds from Social Security for 100 various reasons ever since it removed Social Security from the books; and, 110 WHEREAS: The Clinton Administration has become entangled in this deception by 120 agreeing with Congress that there is now a "government surplus." 130 THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Maryland Student Legislature urges Congress and 140 the President to add Social Security back to the Federal Budget. 150 MANDATES: President Bill Clinton 160 Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich Sponsor: Corey L.
